SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) - Loekie Morales, the youth book author, who has many published books on her name, hits the nail again, the Beyond Kultura Events (BKE) Foundation said in a press statement on Tuesday. She received last Tuesday (13 Sept) the LITERACY AWARD 2021, from the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten Sunset.
The award was given in recognition of Morales’ valuable contribution to literacy on Sint Maarten.
Morales stated: ‘I am feeling so grateful with this Literacy recognition. Not only for myself but for all Sint Maarten authors, who are busy paving the way to write their stories and publish their books. It is a sign, that people who care about literacy, have an eye on us. This award is also a sign for literacy fans to keep doing what they do in the area of literature, writing, and reading for children.”
In the meantime, the youngest spiritual child of Morales, the 40 chapters’ publication Freckle Bunch-Tropical Shelter, has arrived on Sint Maarten and will soon be distributed to the primary schools.
