SINT MAARTEN (ST. JOHN’S ESTATE) - On 25th November, the Rotary Club of St Maarten treated the clients of the White & Yellow Cross Care Foundation (WYCCF) to a fantastic Thanksgiving Lunch, the WYCCF said in a statement on Monday.
The Rotary club has been doing something special for our clients for the last 30 years. In previous years, the clients were treated to a lagoon cruise on the Explorer boat, which Past President Michael Ferrier initiated.
However, due to Covid, this was not possible. Instead, President Jim and our club members decided to provide the clients and staff of the WYCCF with a complete Thanksgiving buffet. A team of about 14 Rotarians started early with the preparations, handed out food, talked, and danced with our clients before they ate themselves.
Community Service Director Kishore Idnani explained that this event had been one of the club’s main events since he joined the Rotary club 28 years ago. “Most of the members here today are among the senior Rotarians, so they have done this numerous times. All this can only be done as a team effort, and this is what Rotary does best”.
This event is only one of the Rotary Club’s activities as part of their community service projects. In the past, several families have been provided with a thanksgiving hamper brought to their homes by the Rotarians themselves.
Mr. Idnani explained that he and his fellow Rotarians don’t want too much publicity and that they are just happy to spend some time with our seniors. However, we could not let such a generous and warm-hearted effort go idly by. Therefore, the WYCCF, on behalf of all clients and staff, would like to thank the Rotary Club of St Maarten and especially all Rotarians who provided us with this amazing thanksgiving lunch. Thanks also to Dish D’lish, who catered the event.
