SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) - The University of St. Martin (USM) is extending a warm invitation to persons throughout the community of St. Martin (French and Dutch) who would like to improve their English language skills to join the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. With placement testing happening, now is the perfect time to take the first step towards mastering English language.

The ESL program at USM is designed for learners of all backgrounds and skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your existing language skills, our detailed approach offers a pathway to success. By joining the ESL program, participants gain the confidence and experience needed to succeed in English-speaking environments.

To make sure that each student is placed at the right level, USM uses placement testing. These assessments (tests) help determine the starting point for each student, ensuring that they are placed in a class that is at their level. The USM team encourages interested individuals to visit the campus for a conversation and placement testing session.

Placement-level testing sessions will be held at the USM campus on Wednesday and Thursday (February 14, 15, 21, 22), starting at 5:30 PM. This allows prospective students to speak with teachers, ask questions, and better understand the ESL program. The ESL classes will then start on February 26th, 2024, and end on May 24th, 2024.

Corrine Le Juez, Program Coordinator for ESL at USM, stresses the importance of personal learning and specific guidance in achieving language proficiency. "Our goal is to provide a supportive and enriching environment where students can grow," says Mrs. Le Juez. "Through placement testing and individualized instruction, we ensure that each student receives the guidance they need to succeed."

Join us at the University of St. Martin and begin your journey toward English language proficiency. The ESL program at USM can help you grow in your career, apply to higher education, or improve your communication skills.
