SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) - The University of St. Martin (USM) is honored to host Tulane University students for a week-long educational and cultural exchange program. This visit promotes intercultural understanding and academic collaboration between the two universities.
The week commenced with a Meet & Greet event on May 31st at the University of St. Martin, where students from both universities had the opportunity to connect and share their educational experiences.
Throughout their stay, the Tulane students, accompanied by the students from USM, visited several significant sites: At the Government of St. Maarten Civil Registry, students learned about the island's administrative processes and governance. As well as the St. Maarten Heritage Museum, which provided in-depth insights into the island's rich history and cultural heritage.
The exchange program emphasized not only academic and historical learning, but also the development of long-lasting relationships. The final day, June 4th, will be marked by a farewell gathering at the Eco-farm in Bellevue, to celebrate the bonds formed and knowledge gained throughout the week.
"We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to host Tulane University students," stated Ms. Patricia Arrindell, USM faculty and Student Government Association (SGA) Student Advisor. "This exchange has been an enriching experience for both our students and our visiting students, providing a platform for shared learning and cultural exchange."
