Traffic Advisory and Safety Guidelines for Sint Maarten Day Celebrations & Jouvert Jump-Up

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten wishes to inform the general public of traffic arrangements, safety guidelines, and road closures in connection with the Sint Maarten Day celebrations scheduled for Sunday, November 10th, 2024.

The festivities will begin at 12:00 AM with the Jouvert Jump Up, starting from the Festival Village on Soualiga Road. The procession will follow this route:

  • Soualiga Road
  • Arch Road
  • A.Th. Illidge Road
  • Bush Road
  • L.B. Scott Road
  • Jose Lake Ball Park

The Jouvert Jump Up is expected to reach its final destination at the Jose Lake Ball Park by approximately 4:00 AM.

Following this event, at 5:00 AM, the Sint Maarten Day Breakfast Fest will take place at the Emilio Wilson Estate, featuring performances from five bands and two DJs. The event will conclude at 2:00 PM.

Immediately after the Breakfast Fest, at 2:00 PM, a Cultural Parade will commence from the Jose Lake Ball Park and proceed along the following route:

  • L.B. Scott Road
  • Bush Road
  • W.J.A. Nisbeth Road
  • Soualiga Road, culminating at Festival Village.

Traffic Advisory:

During these events, road closures will be in effect in the areas mentioned. Motorists and the general public are advised to:

  • Plan alternate routes if traveling through the affected areas.
  • Use caution and follow the directions of traffic officers stationed along the routes.
  • Visitors heading to Princess Juliana International Airport or the A.C. Wathey Cruise Facility are urged to plan their trips accordingly and allow for extra travel time.

Participants and attendees leaving their homes to attend these events are strongly advised to secure their homes to prevent potential burglaries or break-ins. Please ensure that all doors and windows are properly locked before leaving.

Additionally, the public is reminded to park their vehicles in areas that do not obstruct the free flow of traffic and follow the instructions of police officers regarding parking regulations.
