SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) - With just months to go before the 45th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, the excitement is building for one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated and globally recognized sailing events. Scheduled from March 6-9, 2025, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is a must do for competitive sailors and those looking for an unforgettable experience on and off the water.

While the Regatta’s Sunsail bareboat charters have already completely sold out, limited race charters are still available, offering an exciting opportunity to participate in this premier event. Whether a crew of serious racers or passionate sailing enthusiasts, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta has a curated selection of yacht charter options that will let visiting race teams of any level compete in paradise.

Available Race Charters

There are still select race charter boats available, all perfectly suited for the competitive environment of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

These include:

  • Beneteau First 40.7: A fast, competitive racer-cruiser ideal for teams looking to combine performance with a touch of comfort.
  • VO65: Take on the high-performance experience of an offshore race yacht, built for speed and a big crew.
  • Super Maxi 86: Perfect for sailors seeking a mix of luxury and performance, with a great balance of power and comfort.
  • Hanse 47e: luxury cruiser-racer with a streamlined deck plan and accommodations for the crew.

Most race charters come with a professional charter captain and include pre-race training days so teams can get fully prepared before the starting gun. It’s the ultimate 'turnkey' experience – whether for an experienced crew or those looking for expert guidance, the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta race charters have you covered.

“We love doing the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta with different charter crew each year on our Pogo 12.50, some have even returned to do it on their own boat. This year we have a crew who previously chartered a VO70 with a larger crew, and now they are bringing a smaller crew where they can have more active roles onboard. Race charters are great ways for visiting teams to enjoy the Regatta and still get the kind of competitive racing experience you have with your crew at home,” said race charter company, Ocean Racers, owner Morgen Watson.

Serious Racing, “Serious Fun!”

The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta offers a unique blend of high-caliber racing and unmatched post-race entertainment. The usual Regatta fleet of 100+ boats has representation across multiple classes, from monohulls and multihulls to maxi yachts, from over 15 different countries.  The daily mixed courses over the 4-day event take you around St. Maarten’s scenic coastline, offering breathtaking views and thrilling competition in warm tropical winds.

An American team of friends that charters Salona 45 Panacea X is confirmed for their third St. Maarten Heineken Regatta onboard, and they are going for a hat-trick! After securing first-in-class for two Regattas in a row, the team is returning to defend their title and go for three. Rival American race team onboard Frers 46 Quintessence III shared their sentiments about the event: “Great competition, great event. Looking forward to settling it on the water and celebrating in the pub.”

Off the water, sailors and teams are invited to enjoy the world-famous Regatta Village at Port de Plaisance Resort, where nightly concerts, parties, and festivities are all part of the experience. These events are free to all participating sailors, ensuring a seamless blend of racing, relaxation, and celebration. With live music from internationally renowned artists and local performers, the party lasts well into the night and always delivers on the event’s promise of “Serious Fun!”
