Central Committee meeting of Parliament regarding discussions on the status of the national decrees and payments for the justice workers

SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) - The House of Parliament will sit in a Central Committee meeting on May 7, 2025.

The Central Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 14.00 hrs. in the Legislative Hall at Wilhelminastraat #1 in Philipsburg. The Minister of Justice will be in attendance.

The agenda point is:

Discussion with the Minister of Justice on the status of the national decrees and payments for the justice workers (IS/737/2024-2025 dated March 17, 2025 and IS/780/2024-2025 dated March 26, 2025)

This meeting was requested by MP O.E.C. Ottley, MP F.A. Lacroes and MP L.C.J. Lewis

“The food was beyond good. Everyone in my family ordered something different and all of the entrees were visual pleasing and the taste was beyond good. Everything tasted fresh and was delivered to the table hot. 

“The view from the restaurant looking out over Simpson Bay was also spectacular. 

“Don’t let the fact that this restaurant is in a hotel make you think the food cannot be good because this place definitely disproves that fact. Please give them a try you will be pleasantly surprised.”

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE STARTING WEDNESDAY EVENING ON FRONT STREET FOR ROAD REPAIRS

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure wishes to inform the public that scheduled road repair work on Front Street will begin tomorrow evening Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, to Friday April 25th, 2025, requiring a daily road closure.

During this time, the entire section of Front Street will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic daily from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to allow for safe and efficient repairs. This closure is necessary to improve the road surface and ensure long-term safety and durability for all users.

Please note the following important details:

  • Pedestrian access along the sidewalk and Front Street will remain open throughout the duration of the works.
  • Businesses and service providers operating on Front Street are kindly asked to plan their deliveries and services outside of the scheduled closure hours to avoid disruption.
